A Seven Night Honeymoon in St Lucia: Pitons, Beaches and Slow Evenings
Two bases, one island: wake up facing the Pitons, then finish by the sea in the north with nothing to organise but dinner.
How this honeymoon plan works
Most couples are happiest when they split a week between two very different parts of the island. This plan gives four nights to the southwest, where the Pitons rise from the sea, and three nights to the north, where the beaches are long and calm and restaurants are close. It keeps the travelling to two transfers and leaves plenty of unplanned time.
Flights from the UK arrive at Hewanorra Airport in the south, so the southwest comes first and you only drive the long road north once. Our guide to flights to St Lucia explains the routes, and the page on getting around covers transfers. If you are marrying on the island, read marriage requirements before you book.

Nights 1 to 4: Soufrière and the Pitons
Base yourselves near Soufrière. The resorts here are among the most romantic in the Caribbean, and several face the peaks directly: Jade Mountain, Sugar Beach, Anse Chastanet and Ladera. Choose one by the kind of honeymoon you want, using our guide to luxury hotels in St Lucia.
Spend the first day doing very little. Swim, sleep and watch the light change on the Pitons. On the second day, visit the Sulphur Springs and the mud baths, which are one of the island's most unusual outings, and book a treatment at a spa afterwards. Our page on spa rituals and mud baths explains what to expect.
On the third day, take a gentle walk through the botanical gardens and waterfalls, or visit a cocoa estate for a tasting, as described in our guide to cocoa and chocolate. If you are both keen walkers, the Gros Piton hike is a rewarding early start with a guide, followed by a long afternoon by the water. Keep the fourth day free, or snorkel the reef at the foot of the peaks, using our diving and snorkelling guide.
Nights 5 to 7: the north coast
Transfer north on the fifth morning. The northern coast around Rodney Bay and Cap Estate has long beaches, calm water and a good choice of restaurants, so it makes a relaxed end to the trip. Cap Maison is a favourite for couples who want privacy and a view, and our guide to boutique hotels has other small stays.
Book a catamaran for the sixth evening. A sunset cruise along the west coast, with drinks on deck, is a classic honeymoon moment, and our guide to catamaran sunset cruises explains how to choose a boat. On the same day, walk to the viewpoints at Pigeon Island in the morning, when it is cooler.
Spend the last evening over a long dinner. Our guides to restaurants with a view and where to eat help you choose, and a fine dining and champagne evening is a fitting finale. Ask your hotel about a private beach dinner if you want to mark the occasion.
When to go and what to pack
The drier months are the usual choice for honeymoons, and our best time to visit guide sets out the seasons. Pack light cotton clothes, a smart outfit for dinner, reef-safe sun cream and shoes with grip for walks. Our what to pack page has a fuller list, and money and tipping explains how to pay.
Tell your hotel in advance that you are on your honeymoon. Many resorts add a small welcome, and some can arrange a spa session, a private dinner or flowers in the room. For more ideas, see our page on honeymoon inspiration.

Questions travellers ask
How long should a honeymoon in St Lucia be?
Seven nights is a comfortable length. It gives you time on both the southwest coast near the Pitons and the northern beaches without rushing.
Should we stay in one hotel or two?
Two bases suit most couples. The southwest has the dramatic scenery and the north has the long beaches and restaurants, and one transfer between them costs little time.
Where should we stay for the best views of the Pitons?
Jade Mountain, Sugar Beach, Anse Chastanet and Ladera all look onto the peaks. Our guides to each explain the differences.
When is the best time for a St Lucia honeymoon?
Most couples choose the drier months, which are covered in our best time to visit guide. Check hurricane season dates if you plan to travel in late summer or autumn.
