Resort names
Resort names belong to their owners and are used only to describe places to stay. A photograph credited to a resort page shows that resort or the place around it, as described in its caption.
Where do the pictures on StLucia.co.uk come from?
Every photograph in this guide shows Saint Lucia, and each one is matched to the place it illustrates. The views of the Pitons, Sulphur Springs and Diamond Falls sit on the pages for the Pitons, Sulphur Springs and waterfalls and gardens, while the beach and harbour pictures belong with the beaches of Saint Lucia and the Rodney Bay and Marigot Bay area guides.
Resort photographs appear on the pages for hotels in Saint Lucia, including Jade Mountain, Sugar Beach and Anse Chastanet. Where a resort has supplied its own pictures or film to show its property, the credit above says so.
How are the licences used and how do I ask about a picture?
Pictures taken from Wikimedia Commons are shown with the photographer's name and the licence they chose, so anyone can follow the credit back to the original. If you took a picture shown here and would like the credit changed or the image taken down, write to the address on the tourism boards page and we will respond promptly.
If you are planning a trip, the quickest way to see the island in pictures is to start with the trip planning guide or browse the Saint Lucia itineraries, which link to the places shown in the photographs.
Questions travellers ask
Who took the photographs on StLucia.co.uk?
Most pictures were taken by photographers who share their work on Wikimedia Commons under open licences, and the credit list on this page names each photographer and licence. Resort pictures are credited to the resort that supplied them.
Are the pictures actually of Saint Lucia?
Yes. Every image is chosen to match the place or subject it illustrates, so a page about the Pitons shows the Pitons and a page about Rodney Bay shows Rodney Bay, rather than a generic Caribbean beach.
What does CC BY mean in a photo credit?
CC BY is a Creative Commons licence that lets anyone reuse a picture provided the photographer is credited. CC BY-SA adds that any reuse must carry the same licence, and CC0 means no rights are reserved.
Can I use a picture from this guide on my own website?
Pictures from Wikimedia Commons can be reused under the licence shown beside them, with the credit given. Resort pictures belong to the resort, so please ask the resort before reusing them.
How do I ask for a credit to be corrected?
Write to us using the contact details on the tourism boards page, naming the picture and the page it appears on. We correct credits promptly and will remove an image if the owner asks us to.
Why are some photographs supplied by resorts?
Resorts know their own grounds best, so some of the pictures and films of rooms, beaches and wedding settings come from the resort itself, and the credit list marks each one as courtesy of that resort.
Where can I see more of Saint Lucia before I book?
Start with the hotels, beaches and things to do sections of this guide, each of which is illustrated, then use the planning guide to turn what you like into a trip.
Does StLucia.co.uk use stock photographs?
No. The guide uses photographs of the real places it describes, because travellers choose where to stay on the strength of what a place truly looks like.
