Wedding Planners and Suppliers in St Lucia: What to Ask Before You Book

Most couples marry at a resort and use its coordinator. Some add their own suppliers. Here is how each route works and what to ask.

Two ways to plan a wedding in St Lucia

The simplest route is to book a resort wedding package. The hotel's wedding coordinator handles the paperwork appointments, the venue, the cake, the flowers and the photographer, and you deal with one person. Our guide to packages and prices explains what is usually included, and our pages on venues such as Sugar Beach, Jade Mountain and Cap Maison show the settings.

The second route is to hire an independent planner or to choose your own suppliers for a villa wedding or a small elopement. This gives you more freedom over style and budget, but you take on more of the organising, so allow extra time before you travel. Our page on elopements and vow renewals covers smaller ceremonies.

Questions to ask any planner or coordinator

Ask who will be with you on the day and whether they have run weddings at your chosen venue before. Ask for a written list of what is included, what costs extra and what happens if the weather turns. Ask how far ahead you need to confirm numbers and menus, and who handles the legal paperwork. Read our guide to marriage requirements first, so you know which documents the planner should be asking for.

Ask for the total cost in pounds, including service charges and taxes, and check how deposits and final payments work. Our money and tipping page explains local payment habits.

Photographers, florists and musicians

Photographers should show you a full wedding they have shot in similar light, not only a highlights reel, and should say how soon you will see pictures. Florists can tell you which blooms hold up in the heat, and many couples choose tropical flowers that grow locally. Musicians range from a solo steel pan player to a small band, and a live performer at the ceremony is a memorable touch. Our guide to music and dance in St Lucia explains the local sounds.

A celebrant or officiant is arranged through the resort or planner, and the legal side is explained in our weddings and honeymoons hub. Confirm early who will attend and where the licence will be signed.

Timing and the honeymoon that follows

Start planning six months or more ahead for a busy season, and earlier for a larger party. Choose your dates with our best time to visit guide in mind, and book guest flights through our getting here page. Many couples stay on afterwards, and our seven night honeymoon itinerary shows how to use the days that follow.

If you would like help choosing a venue or a planner, send an enquiry through plan your trip.

Questions travellers ask

Do I need a wedding planner in St Lucia?

Not usually. Resort packages include a coordinator who handles most of the arrangements. An independent planner is worth considering for a villa wedding or a larger, more personal event.

Can I bring my own photographer or florist?

Many resorts allow outside suppliers, sometimes with a fee or approved list. Ask the wedding coordinator before you book anyone.

How early should I start planning?

Six months ahead is a sensible minimum for a busy season, and earlier for larger groups or popular venues.

Who arranges the legal paperwork?

The resort coordinator or planner guides you through the appointments. Our marriage requirements guide lists the documents UK couples usually need.
