What is Sandals Halcyon Beach?
Sandals Halcyon Beach is an adults-only, all-inclusive resort on the Castries to Gros Islet Highway, close to Castries on the north west coast of Saint Lucia. Sandals describes it as an intimate, low-rise resort bordered by tropical gardens and white sand beaches. It is one of the three Sandals resorts on the island, alongside Sandals Regency La Toc and Sandals Grand Bay, and it is the smallest of the three in feel, with a garden setting and a long pool that Sandals says is the longest in the Caribbean.
Sandals Halcyon Beach at a glance
The resort is adults only. Check-out is at 11:00, according to the Sandals travel checklist, and guests who arrive before check-in can leave their luggage with the resort. Sandals does not publish a check-in time or a room count on its pages, so confirm both when you book. Round-trip transfers from the airport are included for every room category, by air-conditioned bus. The nearest airport is George F. L. Charles near Castries, which Sandals puts at 15 to 20 minutes away, and our getting here guide gives the published drive times from Hewanorra in the south.
Rooms and suites
The accommodation runs from thatched Rondoval cottages and oceanfront Butler Suites to the Koko Rondoval Butler Villa, which has a secluded plunge pool and an outdoor shower. The Club Level rooms come in two kinds: oceanview rooms on the second floor with a balcony and a two person soaking tub, and beachfront walkout rooms on the first floor with a private patio, a soaking tub and sea views. Club Level guests have Club Sandals concierge service. The full list is further down this page. Compare it with the rooms at all inclusive resorts in St Lucia before you decide.
Food, drink and what is included
Sandals lists seven restaurants and seven bars, including a swim-up bar. The restaurants are Kelly's Dockside for seafood, Kimonos for Japanese teppanyaki, Mario's for Italian, Bayside for French brasserie dishes, Soy Sushi Bar, The Beach Bistro for seaside grill food and Isola for Neapolitan pizza, and there is in-room dining. The price includes breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks, top-shelf spirits and wines, all taxes and gratuities, airport transfers and Wi-Fi. Spa treatments, Island Routes tours and private candlelight dinners cost extra.
Things to do at the resort
The resort has three pools, three whirlpools and a scuba pool. Certified divers can dive with a PADI-certified team at no extra charge, and the water sports include snorkelling, kayaks, paddle boarding, water skiing and Hobie Cat sailing. On land there is day and night tennis, pickleball, beach volleyball and a fitness centre with group classes. Green fees at an 18 hole golf club at Cap Estate are included, with shuttle transfers. Away from the resort, the island's best days out are in our guides to diving and snorkelling, the Pitons and things to do in St Lucia.
Stay at one, play at three
Guests at Sandals Halcyon Beach also have access to the other two Sandals resorts in Saint Lucia, including their dining. That means a stay here can include dinner at the larger Sandals Grand Bay near Rodney Bay and at Sandals Regency La Toc on its bluff, with transport arranged by the resort.
Weddings and honeymoons
Sandals names Halcyon Beach as one of its three Saint Lucia wedding venues. It does not publish packages or venues for Halcyon Beach on the pages we read, so ask Sandals for a written quote. Our guides to weddings in St Lucia and a honeymoon in St Lucia explain the legal steps and the choices, and the marriage requirements guide lists the documents and fees.
Is Sandals Halcyon Beach right for you?
It suits couples who want a quieter, more intimate all-inclusive than the larger Sandals resorts, with a garden setting, a calm beach and the option to dine at the other two resorts. It is not for families, because it is adults only. If you want a bigger resort with more restaurants, look at Royalton Saint Lucia or Coconut Bay Beach Resort, and for a more private stay near Castries, compare Windjammer Landing.
