Getting Married at Ladera, With the Pitons as Your Witness
Ladera sits on a ridge between the Pitons, and its wedding is built for two people who want that view and very little else.
The Pitons Dream wedding
Ladera's wedding package is for the couple alone and is called The Pitons Dream. Extra charges apply for additional guests, but the resort has not published the amounts. Our Ladera resort guide explains why the open-sided suites and the view are so admired.
The package is not priced separately on the resort's page. Ladera sells it as an addition to your stay, so ask for the total when you request a room quote. The contents were listed on Ladera's wedding page, seen in October 2026.
- Décor: a hand-carved green-heart wood arch with Saint Lucian flowers and leaves, a decorated room and a turndown of the four-poster king canopy on the wedding night.
- Food and drink: chilled champagne on arrival, a two-tier wedding cake, champagne and canapés for two after the ceremony, an in-room wedding breakfast with newlywed mimosas and a best-in-house table at Dasheene.
- Flowers: an in-room arrangement, a bridal bouquet of Saint Lucian flowers, a hair ornament, a boutonniere and a table arrangement.
- Legal: a marriage officiant, witnesses if needed, the licence and certificate, registrar processing and all legal fees and delivery costs.
- Gifts: a personalised woodcarving by the artisan Boniface on departure, and a complimentary two-night anniversary stay each year, subject to terms.
- Planning: a dedicated planner and team.

Booking terms to know
The package was valid for travel from 20 January to 20 December 2026. You must book at least one month before the wedding, and guests must be on the island three working days before the ceremony. A three-night deposit is due at confirmation, and the balance is charged 45 days before arrival. Cancellations must be made in writing 46 days before arrival, and deposits are forfeited for changes or cancellations within 45 days. Blackout dates and surcharges apply, and the package cannot be combined with other promotions. Vendors must be approved by Ladera unless the resort agrees otherwise.
Ladera is an adults-only resort, which suits a small ceremony but not a wedding with children. Larger groups can contact the resort's wedding concierge through its group events page. See our marriage requirements guide for the paperwork, and our Jade Mountain wedding page for a nearby alternative with room for more guests.
Independent reviews
Ladera has a guest score of 9.8 out of 10 from 715 reviews on Expedia, from verified stays, the highest in our wedding shortlist. See also our fixed price packages guide for how its package compares.
What makes Ladera in Saint Lucia different from other luxury resorts?
Ladera is different because every suite has an open wall framing the rainforest, the Pitons and the Caribbean Sea, and the resort sits high on a forested ridge just outside Soufrière, giving a cooler, quieter and more private feel than a beach hotel. The land once belonged to the historic Rabot Estate, a cocoa plantation, and that history is part of the character of the area. The rooms use tropical hardwood, stone and local art, and many have their own plunge pool, so a stay feels closer to living in a treehouse than checking into a hotel. Ask the resort which suites have the clearest sightline between the two Pitons, and which plunge pools are most private, because the details differ and the best views are worth requesting early.
The open wall changes how a stay feels. You wake to light and birdsong, eat breakfast looking at the peaks and fall asleep with the breeze on your face. The resort is small and intimate, with an eco-conscious, open-air style, and it is popular for honeymoons and quiet getaways. There is no sense of being in a hotel corridor, and that is exactly what draws couples who want to be alone with the view. Expect to hear the forest at night, with insects and frogs adding a gentle soundtrack to the evening. Pack insect repellent, a light layer for the cooler air and shoes with a good grip, as the resort is on a steep slope and paths can be slippery after rain.
The compromises are fair ones. Ladera is on a hillside rather than beside the water, so the beach is a short shuttle away, and the climb up the road is part of the experience. If you want the sand at your door, a beach resort is a better fit, while if you want a high, calm place to marry in sight of the Pitons, this is one of the most striking luxury resorts in Saint Lucia. Our Ladera resort guide describes the suites, and it helps you decide which category gives the best view for your budget. It is also worth asking about the shuttle timetable for beaches and for Soufrière, because a good schedule makes the hillside feel connected rather than remote.
What can you eat, see and do around Ladera?
Around Ladera you can eat at the poolside Dasheene restaurant, which serves creative takes on local dishes with a view of the Pitons, take spa treatments inspired by the volcanic landscape, hike the peaks, ride horses, go whale watching and join cooking classes. The kitchen is a draw in itself, and our guide to farm-to-table tastings shows how much of the island's cooking comes from nearby soil. Lunch and dinner here are as much a part of the day as any activity, and the view makes even a simple meal feel special. Ask for a table near the edge at sunset, and tell the team about allergies or favourite flavours so that the kitchen can plan something that suits you when you sit down.
For something more adventurous, the area is a gateway to the island's best-known outings. A guided climb of the Pitons starts nearby, the sea offers whale and dolphin watching at certain times of year, and shuttles can take you to beaches. A good plan is to alternate an active morning with a lazy afternoon by your plunge pool, which keeps the days varied without exhausting you. Ask the front desk to suggest a guide who knows the trails well, and book a few days ahead in the busy months. Horse riding and whale watching depend on the season and the weather, so treat them as possibilities rather than promises, and keep an alternative in mind.
Wellness and craft round out the stay. Our guide to yoga and mindfulness gives ideas for building calm into the day, and artisan markets and crafts explains where to find hand-made pieces, which fits well with the woodcarving gift mentioned in the wedding package. A few days is enough to feel the benefit, though many guests wish they had stayed longer. Leave a little time on the last morning for a final swim, a last look at the view and an unhurried breakfast before the transfer. Allow generous time for the road to the airport, since the journey from the ridge is long and winding, and confirm the pick-up time the evening before.
Is Ladera better than Jade Mountain or Sugar Beach for two people?
Ladera is better for two people who want a high, quiet resort with open suites, plunge pools and a close view of the Pitons, while Jade Mountain suits those wanting more design drama and Sugar Beach suits those wanting a private beach at their door. All three are in the Soufrière area and are among the leading luxury resorts in Saint Lucia, so the choice comes down to style, budget and how much walking or driving you want to do. If you cannot decide, imagine your ideal first morning and choose the place that matches it. Seeing each resort's gardens, rooms and dining areas in recent photographs and guest reviews will help you decide, and your agent can often arrange a call with the wedding team.
The wedding differences matter too. Ladera's package is for the couple alone, so it is ideal for an elopement or a very small ceremony, while the neighbouring estates can host larger parties. Compare the Jade Mountain wedding page and the Sugar Beach wedding page to see how the packages differ, and read the notes on guest numbers carefully. A very small guest list is a strength here, not a limitation, because the resort is built around the idea of two people and a view. If you later want a party, you can hold a celebration at home, and keep the island ceremony as the quiet, personal heart of the whole occasion.
Think also about the season. The drier months from December to April give clear views and settled days, but the resort is lovely in the green season too, when the forest is at its lushest and rooms are easier to book. For couples who want to link the wedding to a longer trip, the iconic Saint Lucia itinerary shows how to add the north, and the private villas and VIP stays guide offers ideas for a more secluded finish. Whatever the month, ask for the full written terms before you pay a deposit. A written summary of the package, the guest rules and the cancellation terms is the simplest way to avoid misunderstandings later.
A wedding in the hills
Ladera is set high between the Pitons, so the land is part of the occasion. Geology and volcanoes and the geography of Saint Lucia explain the shape of the valley and the peaks.
The forest and wildlife around the resort are described in wildlife and ecology, and climate and hurricanes helps you choose your date.
